Cookie policy
Last updated 9 September 2026
1. Purpose of this policy
This cookie policy ("Policy") is adopted pursuant to Article 22(2) of Law 34/2002, of 11 July, on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce ("LSSICE"), and describes the cookies and similar technologies used on the website located at https://www.builtwithskills.com (the "Website"), operated by Mr. Jethro Pickering and Ms. Heidi Hein, trading as "Built With Skills". It should be read together with our privacy policy.
2. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small data file stored on your device when you visit a website, which allows that website, or a third party, to recognise your browser on subsequent visits. Cookies may be classified by their purpose (technical, analytical, or advertising), by who sets them (first-party or third-party), and by their duration (session or persistent).
3. Cookies set on this Website
| Cookie | Set by | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics (Google LLC) | Third-party, analytical | Distinguishes returning visitors from new ones | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics (Google LLC) | Third-party, analytical | Persists session state for this property | Up to 2 years |
No cookie set directly by this Website is strictly necessary for its operation within the meaning of Article 22(2) LSSICE: every page, including every video, can be accessed without either of the cookies above being set.
4. Cookies set by third-party platforms
Certain functions of the Website hand you over to a third-party platform, which then sets its own cookies under its own cookie policy, independently of this one:
- Circle, at https://builtwithskills.circle.so, sets a session cookie once you register or sign in, in order to authenticate you within the Community. This occurs on Circle's own domain, under Circle's cookie policy.
- YouTube or Vimeo set cookies only once you initiate playback of an embedded video. No script from either provider loads, and no cookie is set, before that point.
5. Legal basis and consent
The cookies described in Section 3 are not strictly necessary and are therefore deployed on the basis of your consent, as required by Article 22(2) LSSICE and Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. This Website does not display a consent banner; consent is instead obtained on the basis that continuing to browse the Website beyond this point constitutes acceptance of the use of the cookies described herein, an approach commonly known as implied or "browsing" consent. You may withdraw that consent at any time, with prospective effect, by the means described in Section 6, without this affecting your ability to access the Website's content.
6. Withdrawing consent and disabling cookies
- Browser configuration. Every major browser allows cookies to be blocked, deleted, or restricted to first-party cookies only, through its own settings. Blocking Circle's cookie will prevent you from remaining signed in to the Community.
- Google Analytics opt-out. Google provides a browser add-on that prevents Google Analytics from processing your visits on any website, including this one.
- Private browsing. Cookies set during a private or incognito browsing session are deleted when that session ends.
7. Amendments to this Policy
Should we introduce a cookie not listed in Section 3, or a consent mechanism other than the one described in Section 5, this Policy will be updated and the revision date at the top of this page changed accordingly.
